Knowledge Powered by Clear, Concise Communication

I found Journal Club to be interesting. I enjoyed hearing the summaries of the various topics; it seems like a great way to get exposure to a plethora of information.

I admit that I was mentally prepared to be grilled on the methods section, so was pleasantly surprised when I wasn’t asked about it. Despite rehearsing the presentation, there are inevitably hiccups that tend to occur during the real presentation. For me, my timing ended up a little off so I had to expand in other parts that I had not initially intended to, but none-the-less I hope I was able to accurately depict the information to my peers.

This activity made me realize the importance of concise communication. Journal Club highlights the presentations that are accurately summarized and easy for the audience to digest. Without those key elements, the audience is typically left lost and with many clarification questions. Keeping those components in mind allow for efficient knowledge transfer within the community.
