RESISTING THE URGE

Trying to put together a journal club presentation the night before means your slides are probably cluttered. And messy. And make very little sense to anybody but you. But time and time again, I still end up putting together my presentations frantically the night before and forcing my friends to endure my practice presentations the next morning. Let's just say, my friends are the only reason I haven't completely ruined a presentation. Practicing out loud and with an actual audience helps get all the nerves out and helps iron out small kinks in the presentation, especially all the slides with four different graphs crammed together. Running through the presentation makes the actual presentation so much more bearable. Even so, I wonder if I would be able to make less cluttered slides if I stopped chugging coffee as I make every presentation. Maybe that's the key to a good journal club.
